Epic Encounters of Patience and Faith: The Book of Job
This one-hour gathering gave us the opportunity to share texts that trod the storyline and dialogue of Job. It was a refreshing time, with some humour, a dozen tellings, much genuineness, and with some reflection together after the texts were shared.
The book of Job is the story of a man whose faith is put to the test by the Tempter (Satan). We hear, as the story unfolds, that he loses everything, and yet refuses to curse God. Even when his friends question this, Job continues to have faith in God, found in deep conversation back and forth between characters. As we encounter and wonder about this Epic tale, let’s see where we can find ourselves in this story that reflects deeply upon the character of God, the nature of humanity, and the complexity of relationships.
